Spring Splash—Hudson River Sloop Clearwater

One of the most remarkable musical artists around, Jeff Tweedy, performs a rare solo acoustic concert, “Spring Splash,” for the environmental organization, Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, on Saturday, March 28 in Beacon. Talented Jeff Tweedy is the frontman for the critically acclaimed rock band, Wilco. He has led Wilco since the mid 1990s and is the group’s chief singer and songwriter. The band has had seven CD releases and is well known for their gripping songs and lively, heartfelt shows. In addition, Wilco has participated with British singer-songwriter Billy Bragg in recording music for Woody Guthrie's lyrics.

The annual fundraiser takes place at Beacon High School and tickets will be available on a pre-sale basis through Wilcoworld.net beginning on Wednesday, February 4 at 10 AM. Regular sale of tickets through Clearwater.org takes place on Saturday, February 7 at 10 AM. Ticket prices are $45-75, with a select number of $150 tickets also available, which includes a pre-concert reception, premium seating in the first five rows, a one-year membership to Clearwater and other benefits. The concert will start at 8 PM and doors will open at 6:30 PM. Some special guests are also scheduled to perform at the event as well. To order tickets, visit Clearwater’s website, http://www.clearwater.org/

In addition to Jeff Tweedy hosting a benefit concert, Clearwater is expected to have an exciting year. Clearwater will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the sloop’s launch, the 90th birthday of the founder of the organization, Pete Seeger, and the Quadricentennial of Henry Hudson's voyage up the wonderful, Hudson River.
